Heather Desjardins
Capital carries weight. It deserves to be held with care.
Her career has followed capital. What she found there became Shepherds of Capital.
Her Story
A career spent inside capital.
Long before Shepherds of Capital had a name, Heather had seen how capital is lent, protected, invested, managed, and convened.
Wealth management
For nine years in executive leadership at a registered investment adviser, she built how clients are served and how advisers work.
Private capital
In alternative asset management and private equity, she saw capital shape companies long before the public sees them.
Banking and markets
From mortgage lending to the broker dealer world, she saw deposits become loans and savings become ownership.
Insurance
Leading operations for a national insurer, she saw how capital stands between families and the unexpected.
On the global stage
For nearly six years, Heather was a co-creator of the Future Capital Initiative, an alliance of global leaders working to align capital with lasting prosperity for people and the planet.
Alongside the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the United Nations Office for Partnerships, and the World Academy of Art and Science, she helped write its mission and strategic plan, select its first fifty members from across sectors and cultures, and convene its inaugural meeting at United Nations Headquarters in New York in 2019.
In every sector, one thing held true.
Capital is never only money.
It is trust placed in human hands.
Then came a crossroads.
Over the years, Heather worked alongside many people who held their word and their practice together. She also saw how easily the two can drift apart, and how much depends on the distance between what is promised and what is done.
She could stay in a good profession she had given many years to, or she could step out and build what she believed was needed. That season was not easy. Walking away from the security of a long career rarely is, and for a time the path forward was not visible.
So she grew quiet, and spent that season in prayerful meditation.Clarity came slowly.The first thing to arrive was not a business plan.
It was an image.Not just an image. A seal.
The seal came first.
The name, the work,
and the book followed.
The seal that now carries the name Shepherds of Capital.
